Peachy Dots & Home Decor.

Do you ever just have a simply great weekend that you wish would go on forever? That is what this weekend has been to me! Today in particular was just perfect. Unfortunately, Nate felt pretty under the weather and stayed on the couch most of the day. I wish he’d have been able to go about town with me, but I was off doing things he really doesn’t have a lot of interest in anyway! I’m usually so attached to other people, but I’m getting so much better about just going and doing my own thing! I even went to Zumba by myself yesterday, which is huge. I’m making myself sound crazy but going and trying new things by myself has just never been my thing! I hope someone else can identify with that so I feel less silly.

I wore this comfy outfit because I knew that I wanted to head over to the Peddler’s Mall after I ran a few errands. It’s was in the 50’s today and just a gorgeous day overall. I found this sweater at The GAP last weekend for a steal and if I didn’t have to wash it I would probably wear it ever day. I’m not kidding. It’s the comfiest thing I’ve ever worn. My Blowfish boots matched perfect. This was the first time I’ve ever worn them folded down and I loved the way the exposed fur looked with this outfit.

My Mother-in-law gave me this table a little while back and I decided it’d look pretty in the corner with a few knick-knacks on it. I picked up the gorgeous painted cup at Coldwater Creek for roughly $3 last weekend. Isn’t it lovely? The peacock is from our wedding decor, the LOVE cups via Urban Outfitters, the little nesting doll from a keychain that I found, the LOVE ornament a gift from Jackson & Kristie, and a piece of my green VW bug piggy bank from my Mom & Step-Dad. I have a lot of little things and this is a great way to display them! We also purchased a rug that matches our couch perfectly yesterday at Marshall’s - you can see it under my furry shoes!

I invited my Mother-in-law and Sister-in-law, Erin, to meet me at the Peddler’s Mall. It’s been a while since I’ve been in there and to be honest I never go expecting to find much of anything. I think Erin saw the turn table first and called me over. It was love at first sight.

I can feel my living room finally coming together. It’s such a great feeling. Owning a house and slowly making it your own is so rewarding. Waiting on the perfect piece to fit a space. Ahhh, I just love it! The record player needs a little bit of work but it’s completely fixable, and even if it wasn’t? I was going to buy a particle board piece of crap from Target to fit in that space that cost more than this beautiful solid wood vintage turn table. I think I made the better choice!

Now I’m off to put away what is left of the delicious slow cooker pot roast we had for dinner and to cuddle on the couch with Nate. Maybe I’ll even take a bubble bath and read a little bit of my book. =) I so wish I had just one more day to add to this weekend!

This has been a pretty great weekend. Nate and I went out this afternoon and it was just so … nice. We perused the shelves at Half Price Books, looked (for the millionth time) at the cube shelving/storage in Target that I want for the living room - but didn’t buy it, looked for a rug to go in our living room - but I didn’t like anything in Marshall’s, and enjoyed a yummy early dinner at Cheddar’s. Days like this are my favorite. I like wandering around with Nate pretty much anywhere. I bought the prettiest book- yes, the book is pretty. It had a really old and torn dust jacket on it, so I lifted it up to see what it looked like underneath. It has really interesting details etched into it. I contemplated buying it simply because it was pretty, and then Nate told me that it was actually a really good book. So I bought it. Along with another by the same author, John Steinbeck. I honestly and shamelessly haven’t read a ton of books over the years, but I’ve heard of both of these, East Of Eden and Grapes of Wrath, and that’s why I picked them up in the first place. I’m excited to finally make time for reading again, because I do love it so much!

I took these photos on Friday morning. I was so motivated that morning that I practically jumped out of bed at 5:50AM, ready to meet the day! If you know me- you know that is not like me. I’m not sure if it was because of my new “no caffeine after 3pm” rule finally starting to help me naturally go to bed, sleep well, and wake up like a normal person .. or if it was because it was Friday. All I know is that I haven’t felt that awake in a while! This skirt was given to me by a lady at work. She has given me all sorts of vintage clothes that she’s had since she was my age, and every time she comes in with a handful of skirts or dresses I get so excited! This skirt is a little long for my taste- but the high waist button closure makes up for it. I would like to have it shortened just a tad, though!

My pretty bunny locket would not cooperate! I turned it around a hundred times while taking pictures but every time I moved, it flipped backwards again. Oh well! This fun little slap watch is from Francesca’s Collections. I adore it. I wear red with everything (obviously), so a red watch goes with everything. ;] I usually get irritated with clasps on watches and bracelets so if it takes me more than a few seconds to put on, I just wont ever wear it. The simplicity of being able to literally slap it on is perfect for someone who usually wakes up late for work!

*My cousin Garrett is doing better. You may remember me mentioning a while back that he was in a car accident. He was in a coma for many months, and is now slowly beginning to come out of it. I can’t wait to visit him in July. Hopefully by then he will be doing even better. Right now, he is starting to respond a little when people talk to him. He still can’t keep his eyes open for very long though. It breaks my heart that I haven’t been able to be there!

If you live here and you are interested in helping or of course, walking or running, please let me know and I will get you all of the details! This is a great cause for a type of cancer (cancer of the bile duct) that is very, very hard to catch in the early stages and even more impossible to successfully treat.
