Thoughts On: Organization

On Friday night I went into my kitchen to do some regular chores and ended up completely emptying all of the drawers and some of the cabinets. At 9PM on a Friday night I was in my kitchen with piles of old coupons strewn across the counters and dishes everywhere. I even scrubbed and vacuumed the drawers. I would venture to call Nate and I hoarders when it comes to coupons and sale flyers but I’ll stick with a pretty generalized term that covers all of our hoarding tendencies- lazy. If I’m being honest, most things accumulate because HEY we might need this sometime and also this drawer is closer to me than the trash can. There was one drawer that had 4 decks of cards in it. I can’t even tell you that last flipping time I’ve played a card game. And is the kitchen really the place to store 4 decks of cards? YOU SEE?

We’ve been in our house for three years now and I still feel like a lot of our things don’t have a designated place. Our decor is still fairly lacking. The effort just hasn’t been put in. Nate and I have discussed the possibility that the home we’re in now may not be where we want to stay. It’s put my thoughts on wanting to organize, decorate, and make this place exactly what we want into overdrive. Either that, or we move.. but we have to figure it because I’m ready to Pinterest up my life and get organized.

Do you ever get restless in your space and go on sudden cleaning/reorganizing sprees for hours on end? Just me?

  1. Hell not just you! I love decorating but sadly am very limited in rentals. And budget. So I just move things a lot. Haha.

  2. I get restless with my house and the rooms in it all the time. I'm the only one who does all the house cleaning, so I get annoyed easily sometimes. I constantly want to redecorate after reading blogs, looking through Pinterest, and watching HGTV. -Jess L

I'm glad I'm not alone. Nate helps out with the house cleaning a bit but it takes a special occasion for him to go through drawers/closets. I guess it's kind of that way for both of us- too much coffee always helps. ;) I'm the same way with magazines/Pinterest - and then I want to buy stuff. I need to stay off Pinterest!

  3. I think making a routine habit will help you a lot. If you devote some little time to manage your things then there is no difficulty in organizing. As you have told that you don’t even designated the space for your items so making a proper storage plan is important because by this you will know where you have store your items and also becomes easy to find them.

That is so true - having designated areas for specific things is half the battle. The other half is forcing ourselves to take the extra time to make sure we take said things to said space, haha. I think we're getting better though. :)

  4. My be it's true that you don’t have a designated place for your belongings but I want to appreciate you for your proper planning for managing your house and belongings as well.
