Biscuit November 2012
Yesterday my sweet friend Kalen sent me a text to ask how Nate and I are doing, and then she asked about the bunnies and how they’re doing. I thought it was thoughtful of her to ask about them, and I’m sure they would think it was nice too if.. you know.. they cared about anything other than binkies and noms. It reminded me that I’ve not talked about Biscuit and Freckles in quite a long time so it’s due time that they each get a little well deserved attention. Biscuit just happens to be enjoying some play time as we speak so I snapped these photos of him looking very, very curious as always.

In this photo you can see an example of something he spends a lot of his time contemplating. He’s very curious about feet and legs- why are they there? What are you doing with them? Why aren’t they petting me? He nibbles at them and pushes them out of the way, because they’re on his floor and they aren’t doing anything for him, so get them out of here. We are so inconsiderate of his needs.

This is currently his favorite place to hang out – under the corner display in the living room. Rabbits like to feel unexposed and protected so this is the perfect little place for a bunny to relax. He used to only lay down in places (like this) that seemed very safe but now he trusts us enough to jump on the couch and lay down. It’s hard to gain the trust of a bunny! They always think you’re up to no good.

And this is an example of the kind of parent I will be one day. The kind that gives no privacy and takes really embarrassing photos. Poor Biscuit can’t even clean his toes in peace.. but he doesn’t seem too bothered by it! Stay tuned for an exciting update on Freckles and what he does with his time. I know you’re on the edge of your seat!

Biscuit; AKA couch bunny.

I have so many more San Francisco pictures and stories to share, but for now let’s take a break! I just want to talk about this week – and what a week it’s been! We’re only two days in and I’m beyond mentally exhausted. Working out all of the details to just get me set up in my new position has been a bit tedious and hectic. I love being good at what I do- really good at what I do. And I tend to expect that I should just start out knowing everything – which typically isn’t the case when you’re learning a new job! I’ve been extremely calm though, more-so than at any other new job I’ve started. I think with this I just know that it’s going to take time and I trust that the people I work with understand that I’m only human. It’s hard to convince myself that it’s okay sometimes, but ah! IT IS OKAY.

I can’t wait to get in to a good groove with work, gym time, and blogging. Once I truly understand all of the tasks that I’m responsible for and need to accomplish, I can get a better grip on every little thing. I think I’m going to be able to work out time for outfit posts a lot easier now, so be on the lookout for a lot more of those! Plus, I picked up a handful of pretty things in San Francisco that I need to share! =)

Well, I’m going to lay the floor and play with Biscuit Bunny for a little while and turn in early. It’s such a nice evening out. We have all of the windows open downstairs and just got through grilling pork chops. Sweet potato fries made it a meal! After going to the store earlier this evening our fridge is actually full of healthy meals. We bought salmon… which I’m excited to attempt! We’ve never cooked fish of any kind. (!!!)

Next week is our anniversary – June 12th! We’ve almost been married for two years! Blowing my mind … <3

Sunday was a relaxing day. We had lunch at Five Guys, ran a few errands, and ate dinner over at my In-law’s house. While Nate was taking a nap I decided to run around the house taking pictures. I haven’t included the bunnies in any photos in a long time – so I thought they could say hello! Biscuit will agree to being picked up, but Freckles will not have it. It’s really hard to get Freckles to stay still long enough to even have his photo taken! So that’s why Biscuit gets the fun pictures and Freckles is just standing there in his cage. Ha!

On our way home from dinner Nate and I decided to take a back country road leading away from our house instead of turning to go home. We’d never been down that road and wondered where it went. We ran across a few places that I’d heard of but never quite knew where they were, and stopped off at the most beautiful look out point! Ah, there is nothing better than cruising through the winding roads of Kentucky, gazing out at the rolling hills, and feeling the cool breeze rip by! We ended up with the tiniest bridge straight ahead – a ONE LANE bridge. Eep! I distracted myself by taking pictures while we crossed. The bigger bridge pictured below goes over the Kentucky river, and after seeing it from underneath – I never realized just how high it was!

Today Nate and I decided to go and get a bigger cage for Biscuit. He was sort of outgrowing the one that he had so it was definitely time. We went back to the pet shop that we got him at because PetSmart didn’t have a very good assortment of cages, and we thought we might want to look into finally adopting the second (and final) bunny. So after we got done with some chores and a big grocery shopping trip- we went.

As soon as we looked at the bunnies we saw him- he was the only English Spot bunny with brown on him. His markings are so pretty and once we held him we knew that we had to have him! His pretty little markings gave us the idea for the name Freckles, and I think we’ll be sticking with that. =)

Once we got everything home we set up the new cage for Biscuit and I scrubbed out the old one for Freckles. Yes, he has a hand me down cage. True siblings. Or are they? Because I mean, I’ve never had any siblings .. but I’m pretty sure my older brother wouldn’t try to hump me. Especially not if I was also a boy. And especially not if he had already been FIXED. WHAT IS THIS. I didn’t see this coming. People told me that bunnies got a long and loved each other- playing joyfully together. At least when they’re spayed/neutered and certainly when they’re both of the same gender! So why is Biscuit trying to rape Freckles?! Like, poor Freckles is 1/4 the size of Biscuit and he’s terrified. I’m really hoping that after a little bit of time together that this gets better… but to be honest friends, I’m a little worried. Separate play time may be an unfortunate reality.

Overall, I think (hope) this was a good decision.. because I’m not the kind of person who adopts a pet and returns it or whatever. I basically just adopted a child. So, we’ll be working this out one way or another.

And now for the weekend round up:

Day 98 of 365 Days of Marriage
This picture makes me laugh. I’m still dressed and Nate is in his bball shorts.

Day 99 of 365 Days of Marriage

Car ridin’ around town!

Day 100 of 365 Days of Marriage

In celebration of our 100th day- a new addition to the family!!

I have a fun little video blog to share with you all from Saturday but it’s literally been uploading ALL DAY LONG. It made it to 83% and I accidentally shut my laptop. Genius move, I know. We have a few downloads going on the other computer as well so I’m thinking that has a lot to do with it taking like 12 hours. Whatever.. I guess you’ll see it tomorrow! Check back in the morning. =] It’s simple but I had fun making it. Hope you all have a fabulous rest of your Sunday night. Goodnight!
