So today I’m sharing a song that I’ve been tapping my toes to pretty frequently. I originally heard this song via Pandora and it’s really strange because I wont hear it again for a long while but it will just randomly pop into my mind. It’s in my head at least once a day and I can’t help but dance a little while I sing it quietly to myself .. at my desk.. in the car.. wherever! So catchy! And um, who knew that Scarlett Johansson (another of my girl crushes) could sing? It was most definitely news to me!

What is your take on someone who is already a celebrity dipping into the music industry? I know that we all love an respect Zooey for it, but for some reason I feel like she’s a special case in a way. I have no idea why I feel that way. Maybe you can explain it to me. ;]

I’m going to go with a slightly different approach to Lovely Tunes Tuesday tonight and only post one song that I’m currently loving. I’m not sure what it is about this band, Band Of Horses, but I’ve really gotten into them lately. I just adore his voice. I hope you’ll give this song a listen and maybe this one too. See how hard it is for me to only post one song? I have a problem.

I have to admit – my musical taste has gone kind of backward lately. You see, I grew up the daughter of solo entertainer who preformed country music covers in bars and at rodeos. If you’ve ever walked into a hole in the wall restaurant/bar in downtown Nashville to hear someone covering Willie Nelson & Merle Haggard songs- meet my dad. So, every time I’ve gone to do a Lovely Tunes Tuesday lately I’ve been a little like … no one cares that I’m currently obsessed with Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings. But I decided to put a little spin on my country lovin’ feelings and introduce y’all to two bands that have a country vibe, but aren’t actually country. Two of my favorite, favorite bands!

Meet Limbeck and 500 Miles to Memphis!

I’ve had the pleasure of seeing both of these bands live, although I wasn’t really into Limbeck when I saw them so I kind of wish I could have a do-over! Unfortunately, they don’t really tour anymore. As for 500 Miles To Memphis - I saw them by accident! We just happened to be heading out for the night with friends and our friend Matt tipped us off to a random tiny show in the back room of a local hangout spot! Brittany sauntered up to them after they played and told them I invited our whole group of friends to come out and see them. I was so excited when they still knew my name at the end of the night, but I’m pretty sure that credit should’ve gone to Matt and not me. ;]

Anyone who has been a reader of my blog for very long knows that I love music. I have a treble clef tattoo on my back to prove it. ;] I used to sporadically share music on my blog now and then, but because it’s such a big part of my life (and my husband’s!) I think I want to make it a more permanent fixture here on the blog! So, I introduce to you; Lovely Tunes Tuesday. (There are already so many Music Mondays out there, ya’ll!) I’m sure that the bands and artists that I share here wont be brand new for a lot of you- but then again maybe they will!

And we’re starting with one of my current favorites: The Gaslight Anthem.

I’ve been listening to The Gaslight Anthem for about a year or so and after my first listen or two they quickly shot to the top of my current favorites list. And unlike a lot of bands that I really like at first, they’ve stayed at the top of that list! Sink or Swim, one of their earlier albums, is my absolute favorite! A lyric from the first song off of that album, “Boom Boxes and Dictionaries”, is one that I hold very near and dear to my heart and so naturally, there is a tattoo in the works! ;]*

I know that they’re by no means unheard of, but give them a listen if you haven’t had the pleasure already- and if you have, praise them in the comments and tell me what they mean to you!

*I really wanted to take more time with my first Lovely Tunes Tuesday post, but it’s already quite late and almost midnight- thus making it Wednesday! I would love to share more backstory and details about the artists in the future! But, I think as far as this particular band goes- their music really speaks for them! No need for my input!
