Wearing A Little Bit of Spring

21 Weeks & 4 Days
I thought it was about time to get back to my roots around here and post an outfit! Getting dressed gets a little more challenging every single day. I can’t put off doing laundry quite like I used to. I did that all week and then on Sunday found myself sitting in my closet with one clean maternity top and not a single pair of pants to wear. I started digging through the mess (my closet is a giant disaster right now, I can admit it) and these floral jeans caught my eye. I wondered – can I still squeeze my butt into these? So, just for a laugh I decided – what the hell – I’ll try them on. And THEY FIT. They are low rise enough that they hit just below my growing bump. I *could* get them buttoned but I could also tell that as the day went on, I would deeply regret having them buttoned. So I grabbed a hair tie to keep them closed but also give me some extra room. It worked perfectly! Made me feel like a million bucks to be wearing some “regular” pants. Every time I went to the bathroom though I would try to just pull them down because I’m so used to elastic! Ha!

A Christmas Outfit

18 Weeks Pregnant

Over the past few weeks I’ve sort of given in to the pregnancy uniform of leggings and sweaters. I bought a few pieces of maternity clothing and they were so comfy, so I started wearing them constantly. And then… I really started to miss my regular clothes. I used to wear a dress every day! I’ve realized that a lot of my dresses can still accommodate the bump at this point so I should probably wear them while I can! I’ve actually rediscovered some items that I haven’t worn in over a year because I was tired of them or felt like they just didn’t fit right but they happen to work especially well right now, so they are my new favorites! This dress is one of those! See, there is a method to my hoarding tendencies!

Nate snapped these pictures in the backyard over at his Mom’s house on Christmas Day. We decided not to do presents this year. We got our record cabinet fixed and bought some new records instead. Plus, we knew we would be going on a family trip to Washington D.C. the day after Christmas and wanted to save a bit. We did buy our sweet baby boy a few onesies and he received a few gifts from all of the grandparents as well! He is already so loved (and so stylish)!

I am super excited to dig through the rest of my closet and come up with some new outfits to share in the new year! It’s really fun to feel inspired again and to find new ways to wear things during this time!

Feeling A Little Catty With Glasses Shop + My Second Trimester

14 Weeks

Meow! I finally got my hands on a pair of cat-eye glasses, y’all. It has been a long time coming. I’ve partnered up with several online glasses retailers over the past few years of running this little blog (which has really been a blessing because my prescription is ever-changing and glasses can be pricey) but none of them have ever offered the design that I really and truly had my heart set on! You guessed it! Cat-eyes! AND they’re tortoise cat-eyes! I’ve always wanted to try this style and this color. I tend to stick to black usually, which I’ve found to look a little bit harsh on my face in comparison to the tortoise. I’ve finally found my perfect match!

It’s true – I am loving these glasses from GlassesShop.com. I ordered them with ease, received them quickly, and they are exactly as expected. They even came with a cute little case and a soft cleansing cloth. My number one recommendation for purchasing glasses online, though? Go to an actual store and try on a pair as similar as you can possibly find to what you’re thinking of purchasing online. I love that there is the ‘virtual try-on’ option but I really struggle with being able to tell what works with my face shape unless I physically try them on. Maybe even take a friend with you to help you decide on a pair! Once you know what you really and truly want – purchasing online is seriously the best option in my opinion. The price difference is just unreal. I mean, just check out the price
These pictures were snapped at exactly 14 weeks on Wednesday! It feels amazing to finally be in my second trimester. I just feel a bit more at ease now that things have progressed this far. There’s really not much to report as far as changes go – I feel about the same. I’ve definitely grown quite a bit so I’m getting in my last hoorah with regular clothes (like this dress). I actually wore a pair of high-waisted jeans completely unzipped down the side with a long sweater to go Black Friday shopping yesterday. No one was the wiser, haha! Nate and I have really been enjoying the long holiday weekend. I’ve been staying up late and sleeping in a little so my schedule is going to be way off! But I have slept better the last few nights than I have in a while, so it’s worth it. I hope you have all had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!

PS: What do you all think of the new blog design? I needed something new and I wanted it to be a bit seasonal! I think it will be fun to change the header as we move through the year. =)

Slow Weekends

My Favorite Light
Nate and I have been go, go, go the past couple of weeks. Last Sunday was kind of a slow day and it felt just right after a long day of tailgating with friends. Nate got up and did his normal ridiculously early things and I slept in. He came back to “take a nap” though, and we stayed in our dimly lit room well into the afternoon. Is there anything better than taking some time to just roll around in and out of consciousness with your favorite person in the middle of the day? No. No there isn’t. This past week went by fairly quickly and I found myself waking up to another weekend today. Saturday started early for me. I was up at 9AM for aerial classes and home by noon. When I pulled into the driveway today I marveled at my pretty little front porch. I bought gorgeous golden colored mums last night and put them in my hanging baskets. I hung up my tiny little fall wreath this evening and sat outside for a while in the crisp air. Fall has officially moved in and I feel like these photos are the last bits of summer.

I’ve been trying to step back and make time for everything important. Truly important. I see so many people sleepwalking through their daily routines, not making time for anything but their worries. Y’all stop it, okay? Make a conscious choice to call up someone who’d be surprised to hear from you, to go run around outside with your camera, to take a class, to twirl around in a pretty dress, to figure out how to make better iced coffee at home than you can get at a coffee shop, to cook and eat delicious meals every night a couple of times a week, to make at least ONE of those DIY’s you’ve pinned on Pinterest… I’m talking to myself, too. Fill every minute that you are awake with something good, something that makes you feel alive. But then give yourself a little break if you never get to those Pinterest pins, because we’re never going to have time to make all of that shit, are we?

Tonight we are at home – hanging out, watching football, doing yoga, having a few beers, relaxing. I’m enjoying the simplicity of it because I know the next few weekends will be filled with weddings and trips out of town. Lots of things to look forward to but lots of time spent on the move! Have a great weekend friends!

PS: I’m thinking of using my Tumblr a bit more again. Do you have a Tumblr? Leave your link in the comments!
