What I Wore: To Keeneland

Keeneland every day! I kind of love the simple things, so getting all dressed up with friends to go hang out, eat good food, and wear a big hat? I get pretty giddy about stuff like that. This outfit was thrown together pretty last minute. I came across this hat and top at a yard sale the weekend prior for a total of $3! The hat still had the Forever21 tag attached. Score! I’m really not sure what I would have worn if not for those new key pieces. Nate said I looked like a pilgrim in this outfit and my only comeback was, “A really STYLISH pilgrim.” so… who wants me on their debate team? (I don’t think I’m really stylish, by the way.. but maybe if I was a pilgrim?)

Monogram Necklace: c/o similar)

I want to say thank you to Onecklace for sending me the monogram necklace that I’m wearing in the photos. It’s such a simple, classic necklace that I’ll be able to wear for years to come!

Stay tuned for a giveaway that will be coming your way soon! Happy Friday!

What I Wore: Beauty In My Own Backyard

Target (The Maiedae Mixer and I haven’t worn it since. It was a little on the chilly side to be out and about with bare legs but I decided to enjoy the option while it lasts! I feel like fleece lined leggings and real pants are going to be mandatory here soon – so I better take advantage of just being “slightly chilly” while I can! I snagged these adorable studded leopard flats on Saturday night and they went perfectly with the outfit – especially with my leopard print heart earrings! I don’t think I’ll ever grow out of my love for leopard print and I expect that these flats will stay with me until they are worn to the point of having holes in them, just like my last 3 pairs! I’m a little crazy about all of the things embellished with studs/spikes right now so these were too good to pass up!

Kick Ass Kentuckian

Kentucky for Kentucky style. Ok – not really. But this shirt kicks ass, right? Nate and I both kind of love Kentucky for Kentucky and their mission (stated best on their website), Our goals are simple: increase tourism, attract new business, foster pride, diminish stereotypes, unify the Commonwealth, and distinguish Kentucky from any other place on the planet. We both won shirts via a contest on their Instagram and we were pretty stoked to receive and wear them. Nate’s is the same heather gray color but has a different logo on it. I don’t really wear the t-shirt and jeans combo often but I thought these booties and some red lipstick made the whole look a little more fun. All I’m missing is a leather jacket! I have a feeling you’ll be seeing this t-shirt remixed again soon. I like the challenge of dressing up simple pieces and this is a fun one!

Peach Sheerling

Oh my, I’ve had these photos on my computer for a little while – just waiting to to make it on to the blog! These boots from Gap are so wonderfully cozy and at the top of my ‘favorite things I own’ list right now! They were such a steal at around $20. Y’all know I can’t pass up a good deal. It’s funny how one new item in my closet can lead to a completely new outfit – does that happen to you? I purchased this dress so long ago (years!) and since dying my hair red I’ve had my reservations about wearing it. It’s actually much more of a coral/peachy color than how it appears in these photos. Somehow it caught my eye as I tried to come up with something solid that would go well with the neutral tones in the boots and tights – and tada! This is why I have trouble getting rid of clothing I haven’t worn in a long time. This dress!

It was pretty cold when I took these photos. I look like I’m about to freeze to death in the one above! Interestingly enough it was in the 70′s a day or two later and then a few days after that it dropped into the teens with a windchill of -8! I’m telling you, I never question my sanity for moving to Kentucky from Florida like I do every. single. January. It’s alright! I don’t miss walking out the door and having my makeup melt off of my face immediately. Gotta give a little somewhere, right?!
